Synopsis of The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro:

The novel takes place over a period of three days. It is about Ryder, a famous pianist who arrives in a central European city to perform a concert, with significant gaps in his memory. He is entangled in a web of appointments and promises which he cannot seem to remember, struggling to fulfill his commitments before Thursday night’s performance, frustrated with his inability to take control. Ryder is overwhelmed by an onslaught of strangers who seem to know him and of whom he has vague, dreamlike recollections.

Kazuo Ishiguro is the author of ‘A Pale View of Hills’ (1982), ‘An Artist of the Floating World’ (1986) and ‘The Remains of the Day’ (1989).
