Synopsis of L’ombre du Poteau et le Carré de la Terre:

For each of us, the approach to religious buildings from the medieval period generally takes specific paths which depend on our interest in them.

Churches and cathedrals are part of the heritage that our elders have left us. They inscribed their knowledge their techniques but also their beliefs in it and it would be harmful to our own culture not to try to pierce what these constructions can deliver to us from the culture which gave birth to them.

The approach, exposed in The Shadow of the Pole and the Square of the Earth, directly follows the process of the experimental method used successfully in physics or medicine for example. It offers a new investigative tool to all those interested in medieval art, both in the architectural and archaeological fields, as well as in the symbolic or historical fields.

The combination of a natural curiosity, a marked penchant for art and drawing and a scientific background, favored by a family origin from the south of Burgundy, a region rich in Romanesque churches, leads the author to take an interest in 1989 with sacred architecture.
